These are the opinions and perspective of some of the people who have been interviewed in “Voices of Skjálfandi”, but you will find plenty of them more in the documentary!
They will make you think about the importance of taking care of the ocean and respect the whales, and about the responsibility we all have as tourists when we visit other places. The same responsibility we have as human beings living in this wonderful planet.
"The whales do something magical with people, they have some incredible impact on people beside being so magical themselves"

Sigursteinn Masson
Journalist & IFAW activist
"This is the first time that we are trying to investigate the bay's marine acoustics in Húsavík. Due to the annual increase of boats in the bay we are starting to realise that it could supose a problem"

Belén García
Marine Biologist and Researcher
"Húsavík is a really amazing place for Research, because of the reliability of seing whales here. People know when they come here that they're gonna get the data they're looking for, and so I think that it makes Húsavík really special"

Charla Basran
Researcher
"We try to satisfy everybody: the protection of the nature, business and enjoying the nature for the people. At the end of the day it results that there is a growth of the pressure on the nature. And this is really a challenge."

Pierre Lang
Engineer and Noise Pollution Researcher
"If everybody would just understand and get the message that we have to take care of the ocean, when they pay money to watch those beautiful, magnificent whales, they should not go next door and eat them. That's pretty contradictory.
If we can make that message out to the people then there is hope that we will have a future."

Berit Legrand
TAF activist
